Carl M. Zimmer, 67, died Friday, August 10, 2001. He was born in Houston, TX, to Carl and Audrey Zimmer on March 18, 1934. He is survived by his wife, Judy (Lognion) Zimmer; daughters, Regina Wolf and husband Philip, Catherine Jonas and husband Travis, Helen Short and husband David; son Paul, and eight grandchildren. He retired from Our Lady of the Lake University in 1999 after serving 35 years as a teacher of child welfare, social welfare policy, and social work practice classes, as mentor to hundreds of Social Work graduate students, and twice as dean of the Worden School of Social Service. He earned the B.A. from the University of St. Thomas (Houston) in 1958 and the M.S.W. from Our Lady of the Lake in 1961. He was active in many state and national social work organizations, and he was known throughout Texas for his work in training child welfare workers in San Antonio, Houston, Abilene, San Angelo and El Paso. He served as a board member at the Madonna Center, and he was Board President for the Archdiocesan Catholic and Family Services. He was an avid golfer, and he loved his vegetable garden. The family will receive friends Monday, at 6:00 P.M. at Porter Loring Mortuary North. ROSARY MONDAY 7:00 P.M. PORTER LORING NORTH CHAPEL MASS OF THE RESURRECTION TUESDAY 10:00 A. M. SACRED HEART CHAPEL AT OUR LADY OF THE LAKE Interment will follow in Mission Burial Park North. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to The Worden School of Social Work at Our Lady of the Lake University, 411 SW 24th St., San Antonio, TX, 78207.
