Coroner O'Neill Passes Away
Death Came This Morning After Much Suffering
A FORMER MARKET MASTER
He Was Appointed Coroner by Governor Warfield to Succeed the Late Theodore Ogle— Lived in Cumberland Nearly All His Life.
Coroner Dennis O’Neill died this morning at 10:25 o'clock at his late residence on South Mechanic street, after weeks of suffering, aged 65 years. The deceased was born in Limerick, Ireland, but came to this country with his parents, when small, to Cumberland, here he lived ever since. Mr. O'Neill was a drover and butcher for many years he also served as market master under several administrations. About the time that Governor Warfield was elected, the then coroner, the late Theodore Ogle, died and the deceased was appointed to succeed him. which office he held up to the time of his death, although for the past three months he was unable to attend to the duties of the office owing to illness. He had suffered from dropsy more or less for a long time. The deceased was a Democrat in politics and was well known throughout the county. He married Miss Elizabeth Grannan, who. together with the following children, survive: Mrs. Nora Kerns. Baltimore, and Michael F. O'Neill, Eugene O'Neill, K. P. O'Neill and W. H. O’Neill. Patrick O'Neill, bailiff at the court house, is a brother, and Misses Mary and Ella O’Neill, who live on South Mechanic Street are sisters. of the deceased. The funeral will take place Monday morning at 9 o'clock from St Patrick's church.
