Educator. A graduate of Southern Connecticut State University and Fairfield University, he spent his entire career in education in Southington, Connecticut. He became a teacher at Holcomb School in 1951 and was later named the principal of Lincoln-Lewis School. After seven years he became the assistant superintendent of schools in 1962 and succeeded Joseph Robitaille as superintendent in 1973. He retired in 1987 and for the following year was the school district's superintendent emeritus. The John V. Pyne Meeting Center is named in his honor.
