Chad Daniel Matthews, 36, of Cleveland, TN, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014, in a local hospital.

He was a very involved member of Maple Street Baptist Church. He graduated from Tennessee Tech University with a BS degree in Computer Science in 2001 and was employed with Lee University.

He is survived by his wife, April Swafford Matthews; sons, Aaron Matthews, Alan Matthews and Austin Matthews all of Cleveland; parents, Reverend Danny Matthews and Carolyn Crosby Matthews of Dandridge; paternal grandmother, Wilma Jean Justice and husband Ernest of Seymour; maternal grandmother, Eva "Mickey" Crosby of Morristown; brother, Chris Matthews and wife Michelle of McMinnville; sister, Nina Fields of Chattanooga; two nephews, Brian Matthews and Drew Matthews; niece, Sydney Matthews, all of McMinnville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Danny and Deborah Swafford of Old Fort; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jeff and Heidi Swafford of Old Fort.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Tuesday, February 18, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Blankenship and Pastor Bryan Mowery officiating. Aaron Looney, Nate Tucker, Jeff Swafford, Edwin Curtis, Rocky Casteel and Jesse Houle will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.
