CORPUS CHRISTI - Jewel Robertson Hill, 97, died Oct. 19, 2001, in a Corpus Christi care center. She was born on July 20, 1904, in Tyler, to William and Sarah Loard Robertson. In 1924 she married John Wade Hill in Houston and moved to Robstown where they made their home for over 40 years. She was a homemaker and active volunteer involved with the Red Cross, Girl Scouts, Polio Vaccine Program and many other charitable organizations.
She and her husband retired to Ingram in 1964 and later moved to Kerrville. She was a member of Hunt United Methodist Church and was active in the church women's organizations. They acquired many close friends while living in the Kerrville area.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Wade, her daughter and son-in-law, Sarah H. and James L. Secrest and her sister and brother-in-law, Edith and Hubert McMinn.
Survivors include three grandsons and their wives, John and Claudia Secrest of Corpus Christi, Randolph and Lyn Secrest of Spicewood and Tom and Liz Secrest of Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.; four great-grandchildren, Wade Secrest of Corpus Christi, Paige (Chris) Finger of Brooklyn, N.Y., Lavell (Jennifer) Secrest of Knoxville, Tenn. and Leigh (James) Godwin of New York City, N.Y.; one great-great granddaughter, Sarah G. Secrest and one great-great-grandson, Clemens R. Finger; one niece, Dolores (John) Reddell of Bedford; and one nephew, Bill (Gail) McMinn of Richardson.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, at the Hunt United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Green officiating. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
