Mr. Adkins was born in Southshore, KY, on April 3, 1948, the son of the late Lonnie Adkins and Margie Bently. Mr. Adkins was employed for a while as sales manager with Big Lots. Mr. Adkins was a veteran who proudly served in the Vietnam War serving as a combat engineer and was wounded while serving his country.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Erika Huether Adkins of Rome, GA; sons, Stephen Adkins, Philip Adkins and Joshua Adkins all of Cleveland, TN; a granddaughter, Layla Jane Adkins. Several brothers and sisters also survive.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, July 12, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel with Pastor David Woodrow. Interment will be held Friday at 2:00 P.M. in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Tennessee Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until the funeral hour in the Oaknoll Chapel.
