The funeral service for Linda K. Sloan, 67, of Rochester,MN., will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday (February 14, 2014) at the United Methodist Church in Racine,MN. with Rev. Glen Holland officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Cemetery in rural Racine. Mrs. Sloan died on Tuesday (February 11, 2014), at her home, following a lengthy illness with C.O.P.D.

Linda Kay Lawson was born on April 5, 1946 in Rochester, Mn. to Howard and Betty(Shaw) Lawson. She grew up on the family farm in rural Racine, attended elementary school in Racine and graduated from Stewartville H.S. in 1964. She attended cosmetology school in Rochester and following her graduation was employed at St. Marys Beauty Salon for a few years. She was married in 1966 at Racine United Methodist Church to James L. Birch. The couple lived in Racine and were later divoriced. Linda was married on December 13, 1986 to Michael D. Sloan. Following their marriage they lived in St. Peter,MN. and Stewartville before moving to Rochester where they have continued to make their home. Linda was a homemaker and was most recently employed as a lab technician for 10 years at Mayo Clinic in Rochester until her retirement due to her health. Mike was employed for a number of years at Waters Instruments , now Zareba Systems in Rochester, as plant manager, and for 1 year, as production manager at Geotek Corp. in Stewartville. Linda was a past member of United Methodist Church in Racine. She enjoyed reading, knitting and sewing, cooking and traveling with Mike. She always enjoyed time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Linda is survived by her husband – Mike; two daughters and a son – Chad(Brenda) Birch of Stewartville; Kimberly(Thomas) Yennie of Grand Meadow,MN. and Gwen(Ryan) Ravenhorst of Racine,MN.; step- son – Shaun(Amber) Sloan of Kasson,MN.; 14 grandchildren; 1 sister and 3 brothers; Les(Sylvia) Lawson of Racine; Mike(Donna) Lawson of Racine; Mary(Greg) Townsley of Lyle,MN. and Danny(Mary) Lawson of Stewartville. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday evening at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville and 1 hr. prior to the service at the church on Friday morning.
