Justice Kingsley Dies; Private Rites Friday

Retired Supreme Court Justice Jesse E. Kingsley, 78, of 115 Fordham Road, died Tuesday at Hill Haven Nursing Home.

Justice Kingsley served on the State Supreme Court from 1938 until his retirement in 1955.

A 1912 graduate of the Syracuse University College of Law, he was a former partner in the law firm of Hancock, Dorr, Kingsley and Shove.

Justice Kingsley was a member of the Century Club, Syracuse Varsity Club and Syracuse Liederkranz, and a former member of the Redfield Fishing Club. He also was a member of the New York Bar Association.

Justice Kingsley married the former Ethel Gould in 1914.

A native of Glenmore, he was a 1909 graduate of Utica Free Academy.

He is survived by two brothers, John of Miami, Fla. and Walter Kingsley of Toledo, Ohio, and two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Sickles of New Hartford and Mrs. Dewitt Krumm of Utica.

Private services will be tomorrow at the convenience of the family at the Gang Memorial Chapel, the Rev. Alexander Carmichel officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens.

Bearers will be John Young, Morris Berman, Ferdinand L. Picardi, Phillip T. Young, James Wilbur and Earl Evans.

There are no calling hours.
