Funeral Services Today For Murphysboro Resident
Funeral services will be at 2 pm today at the Meyer-Denny Funeral Home in Murphysboro for Joseph Fred Biggs, 96 year-old Murphysboro resident, who died Thursday in Charleston Hospital after a long illness.
Rev Harry R Chasteen will officiate. Burial will be in Tower Grove Cemetery.
Mr Biggs was a retired coal miner. He had lived in Murphysboro most of his life before moving to Charleston 17 months ago.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Modern Woodmen.
He was born in Makanda Feb 20, 1867.
Mr Biggs leaves sons, Wendell of Royalton and Carl of Miami, Fla.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry Biggs of Tuscon, Ariz.; and a sister, Mrs Lilly Childers of East St Louis.
