Larry J. Cox, age 71, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at his home in Forsyth, Montana.

Larry was born on May 4, 1942, in Billings, MT to J.A. (Buster) and Helen Cox. He was the first of five children. He was raised in Hammond Valley, MT where he went to school until the 8th grade. He then attended Forsyth High School where he graduated in 1960.

He met the girl of his dreams, June Louise Martens, his freshman year and they were married May 12, 1962. To this union a son was born, Marty R. Cox. They lived on their ranch south of Vananda, MT until his retirement, then moving into Forsyth until his passing.

Larry was a jack of all trades, he was capable of fixing anything and many were the beneficiaries of this talent. He loved working on his ranch and his wife and son worked right along with him, making his home a wonderful place for all to go visit.

When Larry and June were first married, they worked in Lovell, WY for a while. Later he worked on the Yellowtail Dam at Fort Smith, MT, then moved back to Forsyth to their ranch.

Larry was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved to go camping and did so every year, starting with tent camping and later finding hard sided camping was much more comfortable.

Larry was a friend to all and would help any who asked. Animals were also very dear to Larry and whenever they were in trouble (Porcupine quills, wire cuts, snake bites, etc) they would come to Larry for help, they knew he could help them and he always did.

Last but not least Larry loved playing cards with friends and family. It was one of his favorite pass times.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, June, and son Marty (Lucille). Grandchildren Tony (Jami), Michele, Kristin and 9 great grandchildren, siblings: Bonnie (John Prince), Elsie (Robert Martens), Tim (Pam), Pam Patterson, David (Bev) and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home of Forsyth.

Burial will follow in the Forsyth Cemetery. Following the burial a luncheon will be served in the Reception Room of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home.
