COLUMBIA - A Mass of Christian burial for Victoria Josephine Wagner, 87, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Commendation and farewell prayers will be in the church prayer garden. The Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with visitation until 6 p.m. Following visitation, the family will receive friends at the home.

Mrs. Wagner passed away on her 87th birthday, Monday, February 24, 2014, 40 days after suffering a stroke. Born February 24, 1927, in Manhattan. NY, she was the eldest daughter of the late Frank Daniel Marmo and Sarafina Adele Cardillo.

A graduate of Hunter College High School, Vicki was the first member of her family to earn a college degree, graduating from Hunter College in 1948 with a BA in Art History. She did postgraduate work at Columbia University in Library Science. Before marriage, Vicki worked for the New York Public Library. Vicki and her husband, the late Donald Charles Wagner, were married for nearly 62 years. They lived in New York, NY, Honesdale, PA, Deland, FL, Midland, PA, Canton, OH and since 1964 in Louisville, OH. Winter residents of Columbia, SC for 15 years, Vicki and Don became permanent residents of Columbia seven years ago. The passions of Vicki's life were her faith, family and friends. Vicki's interests included: knitting, crochet, embroidery, word games, writing, baking, cooking, gardening, art, reading, collecting and travel. Traveling by car and motor home, Vicki and Don visited all 48 continental states and most of the state capitols as well as several Canadian provinces. An inveterate letter writer, she was equally at home with pen and paper or the keyboard and e-mail. Vicki kept up an extensive correspondence with friends and family across the nation and world throughout her life. In addition she faithfully kept a journal for more than six decades.

She was a member of both St. Louis Catholic Church, Louisville, OH and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Columbia, SC. Vicki served her parishes in many ways, including as a catechist, member of the Liturgy Committee and Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, making frequent visits to bring the Eucharist to patients in hospitals and nursing homes. At St. Joseph she was first a volunteer and later a participant with the Respite Care program.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Donald Nicholas Wagner (Randy Ellen Grimes) of Sunbury, OH, Adele Ann Wagner (D. Bradley Seitzinger) of Cookeville, TN, Khrysso Heart LeFey (nee Christopher Robert Wagner) of Louisville, OH, Daniel Fred Wagner (Carolyn Marie Kandel) of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Tamzen Ann Wagner (Eugene Everette "Trey" Benfield III) of Mebane, NC, Donald Matthew Wagner (Lynn Phisaisawat) of Bangkok, Thailand, Sarah Elizabeth Seitzinger of Seoul, South Korea, David Jonathan Seitzinger (Kathleen Rebecca Caldwell) of St. Louis, MO, JoAnna Ruth Seitzinger (Benjamin Thomas Bleasdale) of Spencer, TN, Christopher Daniel Wagner and PFC Nicholas Daniel Wager of Columbia, SC; great-grandchildren, Miles Everette Benfield, Kara Adele Seitzinger and Catarina Giselle Wagner plus two great-grandchildren to be; many nieces and nephews, as well as her siblings, Nicholas Daniel Marmo of Newport, WA, Teresa Marie Siomkajlo of Alpharetta, GA and Lucille Marie Valente of Valhalla, NY.

Vicki's family wishes to thank her many caregivers, especially Dr. Rachelle Gajadhar, the Emergency Department at Providence Northeast Hospital and the staff of National Health Care, Parklane. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church Capital Campaign, 3600 Devine Street, Columbia, SC 29205, St. Louis Catholic Church Building Fund, 300 N.
