Minister Atha Lee Burroughs Brown - On Saturday, February 22, 2014, God in his infinite wisdom and divine Providence, called our beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Aunt, Cousin and Friend, Minister Atha Lee Burroughs Brown home to rest. She was born in Clarke County (Gosport, AL) and a long time resident of Mobile, AL. Atha Lee was the first child born to the parentage of the late Alfred Benjamin Burroughs, Sr., and Theresa Robinson Edwards on June 13, 1934. She grew up in Prichard, AL and was a 1952 graduate of Mobile County Training School. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 52 years, Grady Brown Sr.; grandparents, Willie (Lelia Ely) Robinson Sr., Thomas (Annie) Burroughs; two sisters, Emilie J. Grantham and Carole Yvonne Mitchell; two aunts, Overseer Vicie Mae Dunning and Christa Lee Robinson. She leaves to cherish her loving memories seven handsome sons, Charles (Katherine) Brown Sr., Grady (Maxine) Brown Jr., Vincent (Angela) Brown, Elder Alfred (Andrea) Brown, Sr. and Marcus (Tarema) Brown, all of Mobile, AL., Minister Melvin (Rhonda) Brown, Rancho Cucamonga, CA., and Minister Stevie (Jo Ann) Brown, Gardena, CA.; three beautiful daughters, LaRita (Bennie) Scott, Whistler, AL., Lelia Brown, Fontana, CA. and Christa (Anthony) Crawford (caregivers), Mobile, AL.; 25 grandchildren, one devoted, Vinessa Brown (caregiver); 17 great grandchildren; five brothers, Alfred (Mary) Burroughs, San Diego, CA., Oscar Earl (Beverly) Burroughs, Spring, TX., Cleophas (Mary) Jones, Eddie Jones, both of Mobile, AL., Kermit (Veronica) Packer of Atlanta, GA.; one sister, Barbara Love, Pomona, CA.; one brother-in-law, Elmer Brown, Warren, OH.; three sisters-in-law, Rosie Bedgood and Gladys Hill, Luverne, AL., and Jerelene (John) Barber of Miami, FL.; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, three devoted, Bishop Kenneth Dunning, Elder Dwight Dunning both of Mobile, AL., and Mrs. Lydia Dunning Harris, Slidell, LA.; two god children, Samuel Davis, Sr. and Minister Tina McDyess; and many friends, two devoted, Mother Lillie Woodyard and Alice Jones; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 1 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Reese Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Saturday, March 1, 2014 from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral hour at Church of God Pentecostal, 818 Telegraph Rd. Prichard, AL. Bishop George Moore, host Pastor, Elder Alfred Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Whispering Pines Cemetery, Whistler, AL.
