Roy Rickert, 88, of Douds, died at 9:35 pm Thursday February 20, 2014, at University Hospital, Iowa City. He was born December 10, 1925 at Cedar, IA to J. Howard and Mary Funk Rickert and married Vera L. Lundquist June 2, 1954 in First Lutheran Church. Fairfield.

Roy moved with his family as a youth to a farm in Chequest Township between Douds and Troy. He graduated from Troy High School, farmed the family farm and worked many years at Iowa Malleable Iron Company, Fairfield.

Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Debra Rickert of Ottumwa, 4 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Keith Rickert, a daughter, Carol Rickert, a brother, William Rickert who gave his life in WWII and a sister, Eleanor Rysdam.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Tuesday February 25, 2014 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds with Pastor Phil Campbell officiating. Visitation with family present will open at 9:30 am Tuesday prior to the service. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Ottumwa. Memorials to the family.
