Emogene Orean Penrod

Emogene Orean Penrod passed away peacefully at home on February 25, 2014 surrounded by her family.
She was born July 7, 1932 to James Michael and Myrtle O. Trammell.
Myrtle's sister Bobbie (McFarland) Harrah came to live with Myrtle after their mother passed away and Bobbie and Emogene were raised together. Emogene lived her entire life in Winslow, AZ where she graduated in 1951.
She held 3 jobs, first as an usher at the Rialto, then at the Santa Fe Railway for 20 years and later as a waitress at the Adobe Inn. Emogene married her singing cowboy Charles "Chuck" Penrod Feb. 5, 1953. After traveling the cowboy circuit for two years Chuck and Genie had two children Charles Michael and Darla Jean Penrod. Emogene lived in the home of Darla during her later years and took great interest in all the lives of her grandchildren. Her quick wit and tell it like it is advise will be missed by all who knew her.
Emogene was preceded in death by her husband, Mother, Father, infant brother and Aunt Bobbie Harrah.
She is survived by her two children, Charles "Mike" Penrod (Lavetta) and Darla Buckels (Rod), seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are planned for Saturday March 1, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Norvel Owens Mortuary 1505 W. 3rd St. Winslow, Arizona. Interment will follow at Desert View Cemetery.
