On Wednesday, December 14, 2005, Ms. Joanna C. Thomas peacefully left her temporary earthly home for her eternal one God has prepared for her. "Ms. Joanna" as she was affectionately called was born on January 3, 1946 to the late William "DickTracy" Craft and Josephine Craft Martins of Pittsylvania Co., VA. She attended schools in the Blairs, VA area. Joanna retired early from Collegiate Pacific, a job she loved due to a disability. She was the eldest of eight siblings including two half brothers. A devoted sister, Mary M. Myers preceded her in death on March 9, 2004 and a brother, Walter Martin. She is survived by her children she adored, her only devoted daughter that she was very close with, Ms. Angela R. Napier; sons, Timothy "Pookie" Thomas, Michael (April Jennings) Thomas, Cedric (Jennifer Ayers) Thomas; 11 precious grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a devoted sister, Leanna Martin of Washington DC; five other siblings; a devoted loving nephew that she cared for after the death of her sister, William M. Myers of the home; a host of other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; two aunts, Stella Keene of Callands, VA and Shirley Stewart of Roanoke; cousins, other relatives and friends including a caring and long time devoted friend, Corrine Robinson-Thompson; her former husband, Eddie Thomas and former in-laws. The family will assemble at the home of her daughter and can be reached other times at 531 Chestnut Ave, NW, 540-981-0184. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2005 in the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel with Dr. Joseph A. Keaton officiating. The interment will be in Williams Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Friends may call on Sunday for viewing at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home
