Samuel Harris "Hud" Dodd, 85, previously residing in Okeechobee, FL, surrounded by his loving family, peacefully went home to be with the Lord, February 24, 2014 at his current residence, 145 Candler Knob Rd., Asheville, NC 28806. He is the son of the late Welzie and Ada Lee Rathbone Dodd. Mr. Dodd was of the Baptist Faith and was loved by everyone. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Myrna Dodd; sons, Samuel, Harris Dean and Malcombe Dodd; brothers, J.B. and Eugene Dodd.
Mr. Dodd is survived by his daughters, Delana Worley (Ronnie), Kay Elkins (Donald), Angela Dodd Smith, Cynthia Bryant, Cecilia Briggs (Keith), Revonda Buckingham (Brian); sons, Chris Dodd, Fred, David and Dan Huff; sister, Evelyn Bradley; brothers, Forrest and Billy Dodd; 23 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held 2:00pm Friday, February 28, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service, Mars Hill, NC. Reverends Billy Dodd, Michael Cathy and Gary Fox will officiate. The burial will follow in the Chambers Cemetery.
