Megan graduated from Christ the King Catholic School. in Jacksonville, FL in 1993 and St. Cecilia Academy in Nashville, TN in 1997, while attending she was a member of the National Honor Society, CoEditor of the yearbook, manager of the volleyball and Softball teams, Cheerleader and she received numerous awards. Megan was in her senior year at Mercer University in Macon, GA where she was involved in the Student Government Association, Campus Residence Life, First Year Experience and an Orientation Assistant. Megan was on the Deans List and was inducted into the Alpha Kappa Delta International Sociology Honor Society where she received the Outstanding Junior Academic Achievement Award. She was also inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society.
Megan was awarded her Bachelor of Arts degree posthumously from Mercer University. Megan was also a member of the Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church of Rogers.
Survivors include: parents, Mike and Robyn Murphy of Lowell, AR; 1 sister, Kristen Murphy of Lowell and her fiancee Michael Crowell of Atlanta, GA; grandparents, Pat and Ben Clance of Jacksonville, FL and Mary Murphy of Kingsport, TN.
The family wishes to extend its deepest gratitude and appreciation to the faithful members of St. Elizabeths Episcopal Church (Jax., FL), Christ the King Catholic School and Parish, St. Cecilia Academy, and Mercer University, in addition to their extended family and dear friends across numerous states for their constant love, prayers and support over the last several months.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to St. Cecilia Academy Building Fund, 4210 Harding Rd. Nashville, TN 37205 or Mercer University Development, 1400 Coleman Ave. Macon, GA 31207. Memorial Mass will be held 11:00AM Saturday, May 5, 2001 in the Christ the King Catholic Church, 742 Arlington Rd. N. Jacksonville, FL with Monsignor Mortimer Danaher officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Callison Lough Funeral Services of Rogers.
