Clinton Shelton, age 74 of Fernandina Beach FL passed away Friday morning, February 21, 2014 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Jacksonville FL. Mr. Shelton was born on December 18, 1939 in St. Augustine FL, one of four children to the late George and Ethel Shelton.

He has been a lifelong resident of Fernandina Beach and attended Fernandina Beach High School. In 1957, Mr. Shelton entered the United States Navy and was stationed in Corpus Cristi TX. He received his Honorable Discharge in 1963. Mr. Shelton began working at Rayonier in 1974 and was a Recovery Operator and Shift Supervisor, retiring in 2002. He was a longtime member of Springhill Baptist Church, but most recently attended the Memorial United Methodist Church in Fernandina Beach.

Along with his parents, Mr. Shelton was preceded in death by his first wife of 36 years Faye Shelton in 1994, his son Donald Shelton in 2012 and two sisters, Eugena Moore and Arene Cobb. He leaves behind his wife of 12 years Barbara S. Shelton of Fernandina Beach, his three sons, Jimmy Shelton (Sandra) of Yulee, Rev. Dr. Wayne Shelton (Michelle) of Gardendale AL and Carl Shelton (Wendy) of Fernandina Beach. His daughter-in-law, Samantha Shelton of Yulee, a stepdaughter, Sandra Ramsey (Chris) of Fuquay-Varnia NC and stepson Andy Sylvester of Ft. Lauderdale FL. His sister Barbara Arman (Jim) of Fernandina Beach. His grandchildren, James Shelton III, Kristen Fielder (Sam), Kelly Trawick (Casey), Keri Shelton, Savannah Shelton, Summer Shelton, Lauren Shelton, Erica Crews (Donnie), C.J. Shelton, Kacee Ramsey, Amber Edwards and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Wayne Shelton officiating. Following the service, Mr. Shelton will be laid to rest beside his first wife, Faye Shelton in Bosque-Bello Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home. If so desired memorials may be made in his name to the Don Shelton Swimmership, Box 14, Fernandina Beach, FL 32035 or Community Hospice of Northeast FL, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL.
