SWAGGERTY, EDD, age 78 of Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at his home after a lengthy battle with cancer. He is of the Baptist faith.
He coached football, baseball, basketball and softball at Holston Chilhowee, as well as the Knoxville Firefighters team that went to the World Series. He was an avid golfer, having worked as a Ranger at Whittle Springs Golf Course for over 16 years. Mr. Swaggerty raised four children as a very loving and special father who spent his entire life loving, teaching, coaching, influencing, and making life special for the four children and his wife whom he loved unconditionally.
Preceded in death by: father, Charles Swaggerty; mother, Dora Padgett Swaggerty.
Survivors include: wife, Barbara Powell Swaggerty; sons, Gary Swaggerty of San Diego, CA, Mark Swaggerty and wife Beth of Knoxville, and Glenn Swaggerty of Knoxville; daughter, Karen Swaggerty Burson and husband Butch of Knoxville; sister, Helen Peipoli; grandchildren, Amber Burnett and husband Paul, Josh Burson, Cody Swaggerty, and Allen Swaggerty.

Funeral services will be 8 pm Friday, April 13, 2007 in the chapel at Bridges Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Ellison officiating. Family and friends will gather 10:15 am Saturday at Bridges Funeral Home and proceed to Eastview Memorial Gardens for an 11 am interment. Pallbearers: Lon Allen, James, Murphy, Ray Herrell, Jim Eubanks, Larry Nance and Fred Butler. Honorary pallbearers: grandsons, Cody and Josh.
