LAYTON--Thorley (Chuck) Eriksen Taylor, 86, died June 17, 1997 at the Rocky Mountain Care Center in Clearfield.

He was born February 21, 1911 in Winder, Idaho, a son of Joseph Thomas and Anna Marie Eriksen Taylor.

He married Ileen Talbot June 30, 1937 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 29, 1938. She passed away October 22, 1996. Thorley was a member of the Layton Second LDS Ward and was a high priest.

He owned and operated a roofing, siding and insulation business for eight years, was an insurance underwriter for 35 years, and for 14 years, was employed by Syro Steel in Centerville as a security guard. Thorley took great pride in maintaining a well kept yard.

He is survived by a son, DeRay E. Taylor, Kaysville, Utah; a daughter, Sharleen (LaMar) Crawley, Layton, Utah; ten grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, Ardell Golightly, Meridian, ID; Ermadean Chapman, Caldwell, ID; Verneal Mortensen, Meridian, ID; Zetta Smith, Draper, Utah; four brothers, Carlos and Sylvan, Boise, ID; Clyde, Meridian, ID; Leon, Kuna, ID; and two sisters-in-law, Eva Payne, Ogden, Utah; Goldie Taylor, Boise, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ileen; and two brothers, Melvin and Eldon.

The family would like to express their appreciation to IHC Home Care, the staff at Heritage Park Care Center in Roy, and Rocky Mountain Care, Clearfield, for the special care and comfort that they provided Thorley.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, June 21, 1997, at the Layton Second Ward chapel, 2120 West Gentile, with Bishop Richard Stevenson, Jr. officiating. Friends and family may call Friday, from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1074 North Fairfield Road, and Saturday, 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
