Before they moved to Page, Larry, Sr. had managed a Firestone Store in Brawley, California, when a little Chinese man came in with car problems. Larry, Sr. fixed him up with tires, etc., and it turned out that he was a California State Representative and knew about a drawing about to take place for five gas stations that would be allowed in Page, so he told Larry, Sr. that he ought to get in that drawing, and Larry did, but the five stations were given to five oil companies. When the Representative contacted Larry to see how he did in the drawing, he told Larry to resubmit his name, and one more station was allowed into Page. Larry, Sr. & Jr. owned/operated O'Neill's Richfield gas station. Their daughter, Alice O'Neill '60 worked at the station, too.
Larry, Sr. & Jr. and his white rat named "Oscar" came to Page first in August 1958 in a 13 ft. travel trailer, which was parked in Earl Brothers' chainlink fenced area next to Babbitt Brothers Trading Company (grocery store) "complex" (a metal building built by Earl Brothers.
Larry, Sr. and Bernice O'Neill owned/operated O'Neill's Richfield gas station with their son, Larry O'Neill, Jr., Page High School Class of 1963, and their daughter, Alice O'Neill '60. They had two older daughters who did not move to Page with them in 1958. Their daughter, Judith M. O'Neill, is buried in the same space with Bernice's husband, Larry (03-A-09).
Bernice passed away in Page at the age of 93 years, 8 months, and 12 days, on Thursday, July 31, 2003.
Larry passed away in Page at the age of 76 years, 9 months, and 22 days in 1988.
