Amy was born in a sod house on her parents' homestead claim in Miner Co., Dakota Territory. She married Otis Lowry on April 24,1906 in Erie Co. PA. They then moved to St. Paul, MN and raised four children: Gordon M., Phyllis (m. Lawrence Fogelberg), Richard O. and Louise. The family moved to Seattle, WA in the 1940s.
