Rosemary "Granny Rosie" Marie McKinney, 77, a native of Houma, passed away Friday afternoon, Feb. 21, 2014, at her residence, in Altus, Okla.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus, Okla., with Pastor Jan Ivan Oden officiating.

Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery. For family and friends not able to attend the service,

She is survived by her children, Michael McKinney of Altus, Pamela McKinney, of Altus, Patricia Foster-Keeth and husband, William, of Florida, and Roy Fuqua, of Altus; grandchildren, Lindsie Price and husband, Josh, Joel McPheeters, Amanda Foster, Jacoby Foster and wife, Ashley, Crystal Zitlow, and Sarah Keeth; great-grandchildren, Tanner, Cassidy and Zoe Ensign, Ben Price, and MaKensie and J.J. Paison; sisters, Edna Breaux, of Chauvin, and Marion Neal and husband, Terry, of Chauvin; brothers, Roy Trahan and wife, Jan, of Houma, and Tommy Babin Sr. and wife, Barbara, of Schriever; goddaughter, Anna Price, of Patterson; sister-in-law, Mary McGee, of Lawton, Okla.; and many other friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; stepfather, Alvin Trahan; daughter, Sherron Fuqua; grandson, Ben Sirmons; brothers, Adam, Roland and Reynold Trahan; sister, Roberta Dupre; brothers-in-law, Leo Breaux and Gene McGee; and son-in-law, Ronny Jay Foster.

Rosemary was born in Houma on May 24, 1936, to Henry and Lillian Blanchard Trahan. Growing up and attending school in Houma, Rosemary married the love of her life, Charles Todd McKinney on March 27, 1954, and he preceded her in death in 1994, after 40 years of wonderful marriage. Moving to Oklahoma in 1955, Charles and Rosemary raised their family, and Rosemary later attended Vernon College where she obtained her LPN degree. Beginning her career at the Altus House Nursing Home, she moved to Jackson County Memorial Hospital on July 1, 1981, retiring May 16, 2008, spending 27 years working in labor and delivery and rocking many babies. One of the highlights of her life was being there to assist with the delivery of a grandchild and four great-grandchildren. When Rosemary wasn't nursing and helping others, she enjoyed playing bingo, going to casinos, traveling, crafts, and spending time with her family.
