Harold Odell Smith, 84, of Concord, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Carolina Medical Center - NorthEast.

Mr. Smith was born October 15, 1929 to the late Frank and Kate Smith. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Sidney and Ralph; one sister, Mary; first wife, Mary Gordon and second wife, Vera Pennix.

The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.

The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Steve Pennington will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord Chapel at 1:00pm on Thursday, February 27, 2014. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Edith Hill Lambert Smith of the home; children, Connie and Kenneth Bollinger, Brenda and Darrell Joyner, Judy and Ray White, Vickie and Gary Bollinger of Concord, Charlotte and Carl Lambert, Jr. of Wichita, KS, Rick and Kinza Pennix of China Grove, NC and Jack Gordon and wife Billie of Henrico, NC; grandchildren, Carla and Chinno Whang, Michael Bollinger, Brian Joyner, Dr. Mindy Joyner , Aaron and Chacho Lambert, Andrea Lambert and Craig, Donnie White, Dena and Tom Funderburke, Heather and Frank Stegall, Natalie and Robbie Strube, Dana and Patrick King, Rick and Lisa Gordon, Chris Mullis, Travis Mullis, Kate Mullis, Shannon and Brian Benfield and Kim and Gary Bollinger, Jr.; great grandchildren, Jessica, Kristin, Starla, Daniel, Sarah, Ashlyn, Grayson, Colby, Bryson, Kordell, Madison, Hunter, Shyann, Gracie, Harrison, Rayle, McKinley, Jared, Brayden, Ashley, Justin, Alex, and Samantha; eight great great grandchildren; one niece, Cindy Smith and one nephew, Jimmy Smith.

Harold proudly served in the US Army Airborne during the Korean War. He worked as a Long Haul truck driver for 20 years, he also was a driver for Winn Dixie for 15 years. Mr. Smith was a member for 17 years of Roberta Baptist Church. He enjoyed cooking for anyone and loved meeting new people. He would start a conversation with " You are not going to believe this" and then tell a fishing experience or a trucking experience.
