Funeral services for Blake Sims "Paw Paw", age 77, of Olla, will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Olla First Baptist Church with Bro. Johnnie Phillips and Bro. Milton Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Olla Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the church.
Blake was born September 16, 1936 to Major and Hallie Sims in Olla and he passed from this life on February 23, 2014 at University Health Hospital in Shreveport.
He retired after 38 years as a teacher and coach at Olla Standard Elementary. He was a Deacon at the Olla First Baptist Church and he was a Sunday School teacher there for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved watching his grandchildren play ball and also loved to take them hunting and fishing. In his retirement, he loved farming cows and hay bailing. He was preceded in death by his father: Major Sims.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years: Ann Sims; son: Joel Sims and his wife Jackie of Olla; daughter: Kristy Curry and her husband Kelly of Tuscaloosca, Alabama; mother: Hallie Sims; sister: Sue Winberry; grandchildren: Josh Sims, Macie Rogers, Hunter Sims, Kendall Curry, and Kelsey Curry. One great-grandchild: Brady Rogers.
Pallbearers will be Keith Ray Ruddell, Mike Dunn, Collin Stringer, Nathan Ruddell, Jacob Roark, and Bob Allbritton.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Olla First Baptist Church.
