YORK, PA. Martha H. Vaughan, 64, entered into rest Thursday, February 13, 2014 at York Hospital, York, PA. She was the wife of William "Matt" Vaughan for 15 years. A visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 902 Mt. Rose Avenue, York, Pa. The memorial service will begin at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Greg Seckman officiating. Martha was born September 17, 1949, in Roaring Spring, Blair County, Pa. a daughter of the late Dr. Vincent W. and Edna P. (Huff) Heaton. She served as an Elementary School Teacher for over 30 years in the York Suburban School District, York, PA, and was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church. She earned her degrees from Shippensburg University, Shippensburg, PA, Martha is survived by her husband; daughters, Nancy Krasnesky and husband Rick of Hollywood, Md. and Amanda Gatlin and husband Sanders of Greenville, S.C.; grandchildren Corinne and Owen Vigna, Carolyn Gatlin and Gabriel Krasnesky; a sister, Carol A. Pletcher and husband Wayne of Roseville, Minn.; two brothers, Vincent W. Heaton, Jr. and wife Fredda of Roaring Spring, PA, and Paul R. Heaton and wife Tracey of Northglenn, Colo.; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Sophie. Martha was a caring and generous person who could light up a room with her laugh. She was an educator in and out of the classroom and was an avid sewer and craftswoman. A very loyal and loving friend, mother, Grammy, and wife, she will be deeply missed and forever loved. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Martha H. Vaughan Fund, c/o York Suburban School District, 1800 Hollywood Drive, York, PA 17403.
