aka Johannes Schnepf
aka John Snapp.
My 6th great-grandparents, John and Barbara, are likely NOT buried in this cemetery. This apparent cenotaph is located along the west fence near an entrance gate to the cemetery. I suspect, rather, that they are buried on the family farm in graves that have long disappeared.
John and his family immigrated to the Port of Philadelphia from the Port of Rotterdam in August 1733.
According to FaG Contributor #47091841:
"He is listed as a foot soldier in the company commanded by Captain Lewis Stephens who was discharged in a list of Frederick Co., VA, soldiers in the French and Indian War. Reference: Frederick Findings, Volume 1, No. 2, published by the Lineage Search Associated, Arlington, Virginia, 1988. Also found in Early Troop Records 1755-1756 in Frederick County, Virginia, Deed Book 18, p. 412)."
