Ralph Leland Gronning was born 2 Sept., 1924, to Ada LaFay Works and Leland Gronning at Delta, Utah. He died Nov. 17, 2005.

Gronning attended school in Delta and Las Vegas and graduated from Delta High School in 1940.

Gronning served in the Navy Seebees during World War II in the Pacific area.

He married Joyce Staton May 28, 1946, in Las Vegas and later solemnized in the Logan Temple on March 17, 1961.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints and served in a number of capacities including a member of the high council and as the Battle Mountain ward financial clerk for many years.

Gronning graduated from the Mackay School of Mines at the University of Nevada, Reno, in January 1954 as a mining engineer. Then he worked at Tungsten for U.S. Gypsum Co., Dresser Industries, and IMCO.


He enjoyed golfing and also built and repaired golf clubs during his retirement years.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; sister, Margo (Lee) Snowden of Las Vegas; a brother, David (Karrol) Corey of Delta; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Philo Gronning.

Services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the Battle Mountain LDS Church. A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. also at the church. Bishop Dean Bullock will officiate at the service. Burial will be in the Battle Mountain Cemetery.
