He attended public schools in Roanoke and graduated from Jefferson High School, where he was an outstanding football player. Leroy entered the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church.
Those left to rejoice in his memory are his devoted wife and caregiver, Billie Parker; sons, Vincent (Whitney), Bryant (Kimy), both of Roanoke and Marcus (Andrea), of Laurel, MD; three grandchildren, Isaiah, Alexis and Madison; sisters, Shirley (Gilmore) Perry, Marion Wilkes (Elmer), both of Roanoke, Vanessa Cooper (Clarence) and Marsha (Taylor) Via, both of Salem, VA. A host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Morning Star Baptist Church with the Dr. L. A. Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Williams Memorial Park. Friends may call on Friday afternoon for viewing at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home.
