September 20, 1927 ~ January 29, 2014
Dolores Wilkinson, 86, of Vancouver, Washington, was surrounded by family in the days prior to her return to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father.
She was the 7th child born to Edward and Irene Elliott in Wauzeka, Wisconsin. Her childhood days were spent in Prairie du Chien, Eastman, and Madison, all in Wisconsin.
Dolores married Herbert C. Wilkinson in Madison in 1949, just after he completed his officer training with the U.S. Army. They lived coast-to-coast over their 41 years together. When Herb passed away in 1990, Dolores relocated to Vancouver, Washington to be closer to family.
Dolores loved to learn and keep current on world events, do crossword puzzles, visit with friends, and, most of all, loved spending time with her family.
Dolores is survived by her children, Irene (Dave) Cheney, Lana (Mark) Herzinger, David Wilkinson (Kristin Nutting); sister, Bernice (James) Conner; grandchildren, Christopher (Andrea) Cheney, Douglas (Jessica) Cheney, Blake Herzinger and Alyssa Herzinger; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four brothers; and three sisters.
The family would like to thank Arbor Ridge Assisted Living and Hospice Southwest (PeaceHealth) for their compassionate care.
Interment was at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon in the spring of 2014.
Memorials may be made to The Grotto, 8840 NE Skidmore St., Portland, Oregon, a special place to Dolores.
