U.S. Congressman. He was an Indiana famer and also taught school in Warrick County. He was Sheriff of Warrick County, (1856-58), served in the Indiana State Senate, (1862, 70, 72) and a member of the Indiana State House of Representatives, (1866-68). In 1875, he was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-fourth and Forty-fifth Congresses, serving until 1879. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he engaged in agricultural pursuits until his death at age 77.
