Dorothy F. Wiest, 82, of 257 North Center Street, Lykens, died Monday, November 6, 2006 at her home. She had been in ill health since September 4, 2006.
Born in Klingerstown, on November 16, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Lewis A. and Mabel (Klinger) Erdman.
She was a retired employee of the fomer Dormar Shirt Factory in Gratz, retiring in 1988. She had been a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Erdman, and also attended the Simeon Lutheran Church in Gratz.
Dorothy was educated in the Klingerstown area schools; enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, canning, baking, cooking and loved her dogs, Keisha and Candi. Her greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray C. Wiest, who died October 11, 1995, also two infant sisters, and seven brothers, Ray, Whalen, Homer, Guy, Kenneth, Lee, and Junior Erdman.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Terry Maurer of Hegins; four grandchildren, Todd and Troy Maurer, Tammy Snyder, and Tricia Tamburelli; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held Friday, November 10, 2006 from 9-11 a.m., at the Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, 1133 Ridge Road, Klingerstown, where the funeral will follow on Friday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Barry Ridge officiating. Burial in the Gratz Union Cemetery.
