Phenix City, AL- William "Bill" Royce Bowers, 52 of Phenix City, AL went home to be with his Lord and Savior early Thursday morning while at his work at the Columbus Regional Medical Center in Columbus, GA.
Bill was born March 11, 1961 in Birmingham, AL to Royce Bowers and Mary Lou Arrington Bowers of Phenix City, AL. He was employed as Manager of the Cardiology Department for Columbus Regional Medical Center with 30 years of dedicated service. He was a man of great character. He enjoyed time at the beach, he was a big time music fan and Jimmy Buffett fan, he enjoyed fishing and anything to do with the outdoors, but most of all he cherished spending time with his family and with his sons as they participated in their sports activities. Bill had the honor as being the sports announcer for Glenwood School and served the school as a board member. He was a member of Golden Acres Baptist Church.
Other than his parents, he is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Lisa Cowart Bowers, their two sons, Brett Bowers and Carson Bowers, all of Phenix City, AL; brothers, Lee Bowers and wife Pam of Phenix City, AL and Glenn Bowers and wife Cathy of Smiths Station, AL.
Father and mother in laws, Jack and Gwen Myers of Columbus, GA and Randy and Doris Cowart of Tifton, GA, brother and sister in law, Randy and LaDonna Cowart of Seale, AL; nieces and nephews, Mitchell and Rylan Cowart, LynnLee Jones, WesLee Eric Bowers, numerous other loving extended family members, church family, co-workers and many caring friends and his beloved pet dog, Jingles.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm EST Monday, February 24, 2014 at Golden Acres Baptist Church in Phenix City with Dr. Ray Cummings officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens and the family will receive friends on Monday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm prior to the service at the church. Serving as pallbearers are Tim Fanning, James Harper, Josh McConnell, Bryan Durham, Jimmy Cochran and Curtis Howard.
