OBITUARY-
The funeral for Charlotte J. Briggs, 65, of 1039 4th Ave. S.E., will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Vine Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Dale DePeel of Meadow Park Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Frankford Cemetery in Frankford Township, Mower County.
Mrs. Briggs, who worked for Libby, McNeil and Libby canning factory for many years, died Wednesday (Nov. 13, 1996) of natural causes at her home. She was born Charlotte J. Douglas on Aug. 29, 1931, in Racine Township of Mower County. She attended rural schools through the sixth grade and graduated from Spring Valley High School. She worked as a secretary for Libby's in Spring Valley following graduation. On Nov. 30, 1952, she married Theodore Edward Briggs and they were later divorced. She had worked at Seneca Foods in Rochester (the former Libby, McNeil and Libby) until her retirement in August this year.
Surviving are her mother, Helen Douglas of Racine; a daughter, Cheryl (Mrs. David) Ryan of Zumbro Falls; a son, Gary of Rochester; eight grandchildren; a brother, Howard Douglas of Spring Valley and a sister, Shirley (Mrs. Lester) Hyland of Spring Valley. She was preceded in death by her father.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the service.
