Geo. M. Kittinger Killed By Train
Funeral Services Held Yesterday at Hohenwald, Tennessee

George M. Kittinger, age 64 years, was fatally injured shortly after noon Monday, when he was struck by an N.C. and St. L. train in the yards here, near the railroad station. He was brought to the Morrison-Baker Hospital where he died about 6 PM that evening. His foot had been crushed, a great hole knocked in his head and he was otherwise cut and bruised.
Mr. Kittinger was deaf and it is believed he failed to hear the train coming. According to eye witnesses Mr. Kittinger stepped from behind a train standing on the tracks in front of the moving train. The engineer whistled and slammed on his brakes, while bystanders shouted, but evidentially Mr. Kittinger could not hear them or the whistle and failed to notice the train, which the engineer was unable to stop in time, before it struck him.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 11AM in the Christian church at Hohenwald, Tennessee, his former home, with the interment following in the cemetery there.
Mr. Kittinger was born at Eldorado, IL, the son of John and Mary Ann Kittinger, and was educated there. He lived for a time in Hickman, then moved to Union City, where he married Miss Ida Dial. They moved to Hohenwald, where they lived for some years. While at Hohenwald Mrs. Kittinger and their two daughters died. For the past ten years Mr. Kittenger has made his home here with his sister Mrs. Dora Glaser. Besides his sister he is survived by the following nieces and nephews: Miss Fay, Charlie, Mrs. Britton Bailey of Malden, Missouri, and Mrs. B.W. Posey of Hickman. Mrs. F.H. Heiman of St. Louis and Ward Hudgins of Nashville.
