Charles Korous, 78, of 2030 First avenue NE, died in a Cedar Rapids nursing home Monday following a long illness. He had been an employe of the Iowa Electric Light and Power Co. for 43 years prior to his retirement in 1963.
Born Dec. 7, 1897, at Riverside, he had been a Cedar Rapids resident for 55 years. He and the former Vera Pearl Harper were married April 27, 1921, at Mediapolis. He was a member of the Crescent lodge AF & AM, and Cedar chapter, OES.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a sister, Bessie Shaffer, Cedar Rapids, and a half-sister, Rose Petersen, Boulder, Colo.
Services: Wednesday noon at Turner chapel east by the Very Rev. Canon D.A. Loferski and Dr. Theodore Lilley. Burial: Cedar Memorial. Friends may call at Turner chapel east until 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. The casket will not be opened after the service.
