Kenneth E. Schalk, 81, of Taylorville, died on March 5, 1997 in St. Vincent Memorial Hospital.
He was born November 26, 1915 in Taylorville, the son of Harrison B. and Edith Long Schalk. He married Mildred Lowrance November 21, 1936 in Springfield and she preceded him in death on February 14, 1990. Mr. Schalk was a member of the First Baptist Church and was formerly employed by C&IM Railroad for 20 years and later retired from Caterpillar as an inspector after 22 years of service.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Rolla S. (Sally) Braughton of Taylorville and Mrs. Jim (Linda) Sanders of Stonington, one son Robert Schalk of Taylorville, 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was precceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son Theodore, a brother and one granddaughter.
Services will be held in the Connolly-McClure Funeral home on March 7 with Rev. Tom Holt officiatting with the visitation the evening before and the funeral home. Burial will be made at Oak Hill Cemetery.
