"Death of Ex-Mayor Seeligson"
.
Mr. Michael Seeligson, formerly Mayor of Galveston, died in Goliad on the 9th instant.
.
Mr. Seeligson had reached the psalmists limit, being three score years and ten [70 years]. He first came to Texas while it was an infant Republic and knew Galveston when it was but a village.
.
In 1853, he was elected Mayor of Galveston, resigning the following year, after which he removed to Goliad, where he continued to reside until the time of his death.
.
He leaves a wife and seven children to cherish his memory.
.
His remains will be brought to this city for interment in the Jewish Cemetery.

"The Epidemic at Goliad"
.
Private information was received that the yellow fever has appeared and was raging fearfully at Victoria and Goliad. At the latter place Mr. M. Seeligson, formerly Mayor of Galveston, was down with the fever. This is the more remarkable as Mr. Seeligson passed an epidemic season in Galveston.
