Jewell Wilkes Nelson
February 1, 1925 - February 20, 2014
Jewell Wilkes Nelson, age 89, formerly of Eastman, died peacefully with family at her side in Willson Hospice House of Albany, Georgia on February 20, 2014.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Sunday, February 23, 2014 at the Chapel of Hardy-Towns Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be from 2 until 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Nelson was born in Telfair County to the late Lavanna Braddy and Elisha Wilkes. She lived in Eastman most of her life until moving in 2001 to Leesburg, Georgia to be near her daughter. She was a member of Leesburg United Methodist Church and enjoyed being active for many years with R S Boney Senior Citizens Center in Leesburg.
Mrs. Nelson worked in retail management for many years at Elmore's and Cato Corporation. She also worked at A Touch of Class Florist for several years before retiring.
She was the widow of the late Melvin Clark Nelson Sr. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Alzeimer's Association, 886 Mulberry St., Macon, Ga 31201 or Willson Hospice House, 320 Foundation Lane, Albany, Ga 31707.
