The following info from: William Stark (#46521610)

James Brisbane appeared in the 1850 U.S. Census, residing in Liberty Twp., Trumbull County, Ohio, 14 years of age, born in Ohio, residing in the household of Calvin Applegate and his family. James's relationship to the family is undetermined. He did not appear in the 1860 U.S. Census. He served 3 months in Company H, 7th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry from April 25, 1861 to June 20, 1861. Rank: Sergeant. He reenlisted for 3 years, June 20, 1861. Promoted to 1st Sergeant, Sept. 29, 1861 and to 2nd Lieutenant, Dec. 20, 1861. Transferred to Company E upon his promotion, he was killed in the Battle of Cedar Mountain, Virginia, Aug. 9, 1861. Bodies from the battle were moved to Culpeper National Cemetery after the war. The U.S. Government can not account for his burial there but he is likely an unknown U.S. soldier interment there.  This is not unusual since of 1,349 burials of Union soldiers there, 901 (66.7%) are unidentified. James's name is on the monument of the 7th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, located at 6901 Woodland Ave., Cleveland, Ohio.
