Victor Paul Weiss died September 11, 2010, in his home in San Antonio.

He was born October 23, 1925 in Lubbock, the son of Arthur Bernhard Weiss and Elsie Sprain Weiss. His parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include a sister, Helen Weiss of Fredericksburg, and cousins.

In 1943 he graduated from Thomas Edison High School where two band directors inspired his deep interest in music by making it possible for students to attend San Antonio Symphony concerts. He was a life-long supporter of the Symphony and music. During World War II he served in the Army and fought in the Rhineland Campaign, where he was wounded. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Theater Medal, the Bronze Star, American Theater Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct, and World War II Victory Medals.

After his honorable discharge from the Army in 1946 he attended Texas Lutheran College and then received Baccalaureate and Masters degrees from Trinity University. He taught math at Thomas Jefferson High School for 29 years, sponsored the Candid Camera Club and was involved in the photography of the yearbook, newspaper, and was a mentor for student photographers. His interest in travel and photography is evidenced through his photographs of those travels. Additionally, he was an accomplished woodworker.

He was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church, San Antonio from 1950 until the closing in April 2010. He served on the Church Council and various boards includingproperty maintenance, assisted in the church office, and was instrumental in collecting historical documents of Zion for enclosure in the Synod archives.

A service of memories arranged by former students will be held Saturday, November 20, 2010 in the Chapel of Grace Lutheran Church at 2:00 pm. Those who desire may make memorial contributions to Texas Lutheran University, Seguin, TX. Funeral services provided by Fredericksburg Funeral Home.
