CHESTER - Loving and caring wife, mother, sister, and friend, Vickie L. Murphy, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, after becoming ill at her home in Chester. It was said that Vickie never met a stranger, and was a warm and compassionate soul to many.

Vickie was a Catholic by faith, and last worked in the offices at the Marsh Bellofram Corporation in Hancock County.

Born in East Liverpool on June 30, 1957, she was a daughter of the late Donald W. Reed Sr. and Ileen Hoschar Reed.

Vickie lived her entire life in Chester, graduated from Oak Glen High School and was very active in the American Legion Post 121 and VFW Post 6450 auxiliaries.

Her brother, Richard Reed, and sister, Katherine Fickes, preceded her in death.

Her loving husband of 24 years, Patrick A. Murphy survives along with their daughter, Tori R. Murphy of Chester; her brother, Donald W. Reed Jr. of East Liverpool; her sisters, Jenny Wallace of Arizona, Regina (George) Gogol of Springboro, Ohio, and Donna (Fred) Cheuvront of Chester; her aunt, Betty Dorf of Calcutta; and her uncle, Jerry (Diane) Hoschar of Washingtonville, Ohio; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.

Vickie's life will be celebrated on Saturday, March 16, at 8 p.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester where her family will receive friends that day from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m.

The family would like memorial contributions to be made in lieu of flowers to the American Lung Association at lung.orgassociationchaptersmid-atlanticdonate.html.
