Vincent P. Daigle, 82, Cohasset, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at his home. The funeral service was at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, in Cohasset. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Ball Club.

He was born July 19, 1918, to Anna (Riedl) and Levite Daigle in Ball Club. In 1946 he married Mary Nistler in Shooks, Minn. He owned and operated Daigle Woodworks in Deer River for 34 years.

In 1985 he married Dorothy Nye in Grand Rapids, Minn. He served his country in a naval beach battalion, participating in eight amphibious invasions in the South Pacific during World War II.

He loved to work with wood and in his garden. He was a member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Cohasset, was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Deer River where he served on the council for 27 years. He also served on the farmer's Coop and Deer River Hospital boards.

Survivors include his wife: seven sons, Paul (Diane), Cohasset, Edward (Gerri), Bemidji, George (Jamie), Deer River, Father Steven, Chisholm/Buhl, Theodore, Grand Rapids, John (Mona) Harwood, N.D., and Timothy (Sandra) Japan: five daughters, Margaret Lloyd, St. Cloud, Kathleen (Steven) Stanley, New Brighton, Minn., Jean (Jerry) Kern, Fargo, N.D., Annette (Romeo) Daigle, Madawaska, Maine, and Teresa (Rick) Noris, Deer River: one stepson, David (Sharyl) Nye, Decatur, Ala.: two stepdaughters, Diana(Art) Shull, Stanton, N.D., and Grace (Jim Martin) Nye, Ellsworth, Wis.: 29 grandchildren: four step-grandchildren: one great-granddaughter: and two brothers, Anthony and Ernest (Barbara) Daigle.
