“ Mr. David D. Presley, age 39, of Lebanon, Virginia, departed this life for a better place on Sunday (January 10, 2010) in a Bristol, Tennessee hospital. Born September 11, 1970 in Grundy, Virginia, he was a son of Hiter Presley, Jr. and Violet Lockhart Presley of Lebanon, Virginia. A lifelong resident of the Buchanan and Russell county areas, he was of the Christian faith. A graduate of Council High School, he had an associate degree from Southwest Virginia Community College, attended Virginia Highlands Community College, and received his Licensed Practical Nurse degree from Russell County Vocational School. He was currently employed as a Surgical LPN at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bert Lockhart and Elene Lockhart Phillips and his paternal grandparents, William Hiter Presley, Sr. and Mary Lou “Tiny” Presley.
In addition to his parents, survivors include a special border collie, Maggie, and many friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Edward Tiller and Rev. Giles Ball officiating. Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Scottie O’Quinn, Darin O’Quinn, Ritchie Presley, Kevin Childress, Adam Wilson, Randall Ray, Clifford Presley, and David Harris, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Norman Rexrode, doctors and staff of the OR for Johnston Memorial Hospital, David Verble, and his first cousins.
Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Tuesday, where an evening song service will be conducted at 7:00 PM”
