RYAN, SHERRY LYNN (JONES) Sherry Lynn (Jones) Ryan of Rancho Bernardo, CA, transitioned peacefully to her eternal life on December 29, 2012, after complications from a head injury. Sherry was born in South Bend, IN on June 21, 1944, and was raised in Flossmoor, IL. Her family moved to Delmar, NY, where she graduated from Bethlehem Central High School ('62). Sherry attended Virginia Intermont College, in Bristol, VA receiving her AA in Medical Sciences ('64). Soon after college, Sherry met James "Jeff" Ryan and they were married in 1971 in Westport, CT. They lived in Ridgewood, NJ, when they had their kids, Christopher ('73), and the twins, Jennifer and Cameron ('76). The Ryan family moved to Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, in 1979, as Jeff transferred positions with BMW. Sherry and Jeff divorced a few years later. Sherry moved with the kids to Torrance, CA, where she worked as an Executive Assistant for 19 years. In 2000, Sherry retired and moved to Rancho Bernardo to be with her ailing mother. Since living in San Diego, she attended church services at Calvary Chapel Hidden Valley, and then Emmanuel Faith Community Church. Sherry was a wonderful mother, loving and caring for her children with generosity and kindheartedness. Her love of giving extended to those in need, including family, friends, and charitable causes. Sherry was a wonderful cook, a great seamstress, loved to play darts, and enjoyed doing family genealogy. She liked camping with the kids, traveling around the world, and going on cruises with family and friends. She will be greatly missed, yet we are confident that we will see her again in heaven with Jesus. Sherry is survived by her son, Christopher J. Ryan (Torrance, CA), her daughter, Jennifer L. Ryan (Carlsbad, CA); her brother, Philip K. Jones (Poway, CA); two aunts, six cousins, two nieces and two nephews. Sherry was predeceased by her parents, Charles R. and Barbara J. (Westfall) Jones, and by her son, Cameron J. Ryan. The memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Faith Community Church at 639 E. 17th Ave., Escondido, CA, on January 12th at 12:30 p.m. A reception with light refreshments will follow the service.
