Mr. Robert Aaron Efird, 84, of Asheboro, NC, died Thursday, February 20, 2014, at Randolph Hospital.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Ryman officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

A native of Guilford County, NC, Mr. Efird was born April 30, 1929. He was the son of the late Clyde Saloman Efird and Lois Valley Efird.

Mr. Efird was retired from the US Air Force and had served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He also was retired as a civil service employee for the military. Mr. Efird enjoyed playing golf at the Asheboro Municipal Golf Course where he was a member.

Mr. Efird is survived by his wife, Lotte Efird, of the home; sons, Robert A. Efird, Jr., of the home, Fred S. Efird, of Columbia, SC, Jimmy T. Efird, of Greenville, NC; sisters, Sarah Efird Henry, of Dayton, OH, Mary Efird Sharpe, of Columbus, OH; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at Ridge Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St John's Lutheran Church, 505 S. Park Street, Asheboro, NC 27203.
