HOBGOOD - George Whitfield, 82, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Hobgood Cemetery with Rev. Dr. James Baughn officiating.
Whitfield is survived by his wife, Mamie Lee Whitfield of the home; daughters, Amy Byrum of Tarboro and Judy Brown of Lewiston; sons, Joseph Whitfield of Hobgood, Tommy Whitfield of Wilson, George Whitfield of Winterville and Ronald Whitfield of Greenville; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 tonight at Letchworth Funeral Home, Scotland Neck.
Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to Guardian Care of Scotland Neck Activities Director, 920 Junior High School Road, Scotland Neck, N.C. 27874.
