Funeral services for Hugh Mills Welch, a life-long resident of Madison county, were held this Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. from Collins Funeral home in Winterset.

Mr. Welch, age 71, died Sunday morning, Nov. 14, at his residence here.

A son of Frank and Nettie (Mills) Welch, he was born near Winterset on May 18, 1911.

He was owner-operator of a local service station for 10 years, in partnership with Jess Duncan. For the past 25 years he was associated with Collins Funeral home.

Mr. Welch was a member of Zion Federated church south of Winterset.

He is survived by his wife, whom he married July 18, 1938, the former Margaret Haymond; a sister, Marie Crabbs of Winterset; nine nieces; one nephew; several great nieces and one great great niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Raymond.

Officiating at the funeral this Wednesday was the Rev. Charles Updike. Burial was in Winterset cemetery.
