Private graveside services for Mr. Hunter will be held Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at Richmond Grove Cemetery in rural New Holland. Mr. Ryan Edgcombe, officiating. A celebration of life open house will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 1- 4 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church Education Building, in Lincoln. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Earl Dean Hunter was born Jan. 17, 1937, in Elkhart, Ill., the son of Edward S. and Helen Rhoads Hunter. He was united in marriage to Alberta Allen. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Jeanna (Bob Rosene) Hunter and Keith (Kay) Hunter; stepsons, Bruce Steen and John Steen; his grandchildren, Deana (John) Brooks, Colton Brosamer, Kara Hunter, Kelsie Messerole, Allison Hunter-Rosene, Dusie and Desiree Steen and Triston Steen; great-grandson, Isiah Green and four sisters Bonnie Herrin, Ila (Dale) Lowman, Carol (Dave) Gissler and Wilma (Bill) Morris.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Earl Dean graduated from Elkhart High School. He retired from Pittsburg Plate Glass as a welder where he was a member of the Aluminum Workers Union. He was a member of Immanual Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Earl Dean was an avid golfer and a diehard Cub and Miami Dolphins fan. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
