JESSE I. WOOD, JR., 90, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Lake City, Florida.
Mr. Wood was born April 3, 1923 in Branford, Florida and lived most of his life in this area. He was a University of Florida graduate, majoring in Agriculture. He retired from Farmers Home Administration as Assistant District Supervivor, a Past Master and 50 plus year member of Branford Masonic Lodge No 130 F & AMA, US Army Veterans of WWll, a member and Deacon of Branford First Baptist Church.
He and his wife Devanda J. "Dee" (Jones) Wood, who passed away in 2009, were married 60 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna and Larry Shipley of Branford, Florida. One son, Jesse I. "Rusty" Wood lll and Susan of St. Petersburg, Florida, two brothers, Ken Wood of Live Oak and Carl Wood of Perry. Four grandchildren, Shane Shipley, Shelly Shipley, Jesse I. Wood lV., Janessa Wood. Three great grandchildren, Lydia Fathers, Everett Shipley, and Olivia Shipley.
Funeral service were conducted Thursday February 20, 2014 at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Blalock and Rev. Gordon Keller officiating. Interment followed at Walker Creed - Bethel Baptist Church cemetery with Masonic Rites. Visitation was at the funeral home Wed. PM from 5 - 7.
